UNDERSTANDING THE
LAW OF ATTRACTION
UNDERSTANDING THE
LAW OF ATTRACTION
Is it real? How does it work? Is there scientific evidence?
Is it real? How does it work? Is there scientific evidence?
You may have heard of it in the movie “The Secret.” It’s a good introduction, but there is a lot more to it than what it will lead to to believe. You may have heard people talking about manifesting health, wealth, and love.
Or, even better has anyone ever told you to be more positive when you were anything but?
Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you are right.
- Henry Ford
What is the Law of Attraction? The Law of Attraction (LOA) is a universal law, like gravity, governing a state in which things of like vibration are drawn together. Like attracts like. It is happening all the time, whether you are aware of it or not.
It can also be referred to and considered as the law of mirroring. The vibrational frequency you embody is reflected in your external reality. Whatever you are experiencing, you are experiencing, because you are a vibrational equivalent to it.
Whatever you are feeling, thinking, and focusing on will manifest.
To state very simply, if you are happy, excited, or grateful, you will experience more joy, blessings, and abundance.
[As if it were a Thunder Perfect motto, there is a dark side. ]
If you are feeling powerless, shame, or angry, you will attract more hate, guilt, and misfortunes.
Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it. – Maya Angelou
Before I get into the science behind the LOA, I want to point out that the ideas stated above are very simple and immature in a way. Through much experience, to advance these ideas we must consider the contrasting experiences in this time-space LOA reality. Many people have the awareness of the LOA, and now so do you. The lack of understanding is my concern.
First of all, I believe way too many people use LOA to justify spiritual bypassing. If you are unfamiliar with this concept, it basically is a tendency to use spiritual practices to avoid emotions and unwanted feelings, to avoid healing psychological trauma, and to resist resolving unmet needs.Secondly, it is easy to fall into the blame and shame game with the LOA. This is the tendency to blame yourself for why bad things are happening in your life. If we are using our minds and emotions correctly, these unwanted things shouldn’t be happening. And since they are happening, that means there is something inside of us that needs to be healed and corrected ASAP.
Have you heard the saying, “what you resist persists?” Same LOA idea here. However, if we are judging ourselves based on the frequency of unwanted experiences, then we are resisting.
Our society conditions us to believe that it is not okay if anything is everything but, “good vibes only.”
What we fail to recognize is the 2 perspectives we have of this time-space reality:
our physical perspective and our eternal perspective. LOA answers to both.
You are co-creating with You.
Your non-physical, higher being is existing vibrationally, physically.
Consider how your higher being knows all things including your highest purpose, and sometimes our highest self is attracting a circumstance that our physical self interprets as bad or unwanted; however, this negative attracted experience is in perfect alignment with our Source-God self. I believe our all-knowing self will put us in these situations for expansion and intentional lessons in order to learn ultimate desires for actual manifestation. What you think you become. What you feel you attract. What you imagine you create. – Buddha
With that being said, many LOA educators will tell you to focus on whatever it is you desire. And yes, focus is part of it. Others will tell you to do visualizations, and that is getting warmer to actually manifesting desires. What many neglect are vibrational frequencies. Everything is energy vibrating. The higher vibrating thing will always trump the lower vibrating thing. This is why being in nature is so healing; nature has very little resistance to death and suffering, and therefore, a higher vibrational frequency.
This is also why water is so purifying. And, why aspirin is a pain reliever derived from willow bark, a high vibrational construct especially in comparison to pain.
My point is, focusing on what the desire feels like will bring you what you desire. If you think, “I want this raise so badly so I can pay off all my debt sooner and then I can take this vacation or get a new old car, because my current car is a POS…” Sorry to break it to you, but this will only create more of that circumstance you are in. All of that is so focused on lack of things and experiences and how much better life could be. Instead, focus on what freedom, power, and abundance feels like. What does it feel like in your body and what part of your body? Does it feel like you're floating with all pressure taken off your shoulders? In addition, figuring out your manifestation type could be useful. Some people manifest based on feeling; some based on specifics - envisioning all the details, exactly how it is wanted.
Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics. – Albert Einstein
Is the Law of Attraction real?
Now, if you are just about convinced the law of attraction exists whether you like it (or not or are aware of it or not) - but your scientific mind is wondering, “is there any proof?” There are no concrete, evidence based studies that scream, “LOA is Real!” However, there are widely accepted concepts in neuroscience and cognitive behavioral studies that support LOA. To name a few: mirror neurons, mental imagery, intention, mindset, and placebo effect.
Mirror neurons
respond to actions we see in other people as if we are doing the action ourselves. Ever heard of the tidbit - you are an average of the 5 people you surround yourself most with? If we surround ourselves with positivity, successful people, and a joyous lifestyle, our brains think it is our lifestyle, our success, and our positivity. This reinforces positive habits and cultivates our own success, but also vice versa!
There are countless studies on brain patterns of athletes who practice mental imagery,
or visualizations. In many cases, studies proved mental practices almost as effective as physical performance. It impacts motor control, perception, planning, and other cognitive processes that enhance motivation, self-efficacy, and attention.
The science of intention
activates neuroplasticity in ways that alter our habits, beliefs, and behaviors and intercepts action. Intentions take the brain from a conscious, focused state to achieving what it is you are focused on.
Mindset
is involved in all of these brain capacities, but research demonstrates a significant difference in a growth mindset vs a fixed mindset. A growth mindset is consistent with people who believe they can increase knowledge and improve skill base and innovate positive change with challenges. A fixed mindset encompasses the belief that you are born with traits and intelligence, and these people do not believe that will improve much and are less likely to reach achievements. Mindset is the neurological ability to change our story; to do, be, have, and achieve everything that we desire.
My personal favorite, the power of placebo effect
is a powerful healing treatment using your mind. These studies of your brain convincing your body that a fake treatment is a real treatment, have proven to be just as effective as traditional treatments. And let’s not forget the nocebo effect, or how negative thinking can result in negative effects in your body.
Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking. – Marcus Aurelius
People find the law of attraction when they are trying to change their current, negatively perceived reality or even during a spiritual crisis. The key is to find balance between using the phrase, “everything is happening for a reason,” as a cop out and realizing that it is happening for a reason. Finding balance between consciously, deliberately creating and obsessive controlling your reality.
There is always more to any situation than what meets the eye. This is what Thunder Perfect is all about - bridging the gap between the physical and the metaphysical. Consider the undesirable circumstance you are in may be a perfect point of attraction to what you have been desiring all along. A perfect point of attraction to become in alignment with your unseen, inner being, higher self. Instead of using LOA to get rid of an unwanted circumstance, use LOA by means of getting into alignment with what is happening vs resisting it.
